Pokemon Goes Mature

Promotional artowork a new Pokemon series in Shonen Sunday.

Wow, looks like Pikachu will be dealing with horny teenagers. A new Pokemon manga will be published on Shogakukan’s Weekly Shonen Sunday and it will be targeted towards older readers. The series is expected to start serialization this March.

I’m wondering how this will turn out, although as Anime Almanac points out, he would like to see a seinen version of Pokemon. I would heavily be more interested in that.

I’m more curious on Shintaro Ishihara’s reaction to this since, judging from this picture, he seems to like Pokemon. The last thing he probably wants to see in a manga are kids going through puberty & Pokemon dealing with adults who have huge issues.

Anyone here excited about Pokemon “growing up”?
