Happy Holidays (& Other Announcements)!
Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to everyone out there! I just want to let you guys know that I’ll be taking a short break. I won’t be posting up articles until after January 1. In the meantime, I should probably catch up on anime, read more manga, keep finding psychology articles, and play some video games. Regarding future entries, I plan to start off 2011 with a look at Bill...

Eiichiro Oda Makes 2 Billion Yen & NarutoxUNIQLO
It was reported that One Piece mangaka, Eiichiro Oda, made 2 billion yen ($24 million in U.S. money) this year. He earned about 740 million yen ($9 million) in royalties. Very impressive given the current status of the manga industry as a whole & the threat of scanlations. Oda is truly a genius & he is a reminder that creativity can still kick ass in bad times. Vertical Inc.'s Summer 2011 Catalog
Last week at Holiday Anime & Manga Day, I picked up this lovely free catalog for Summer 2011 from Vertical, Inc. Vertical is one of the best manga publishers in the U.S. out there. A majority of people will agree with me & I think they pick some of the more unique releases out there. Not a lot of manga titles, but there are gems in that treasure lot. I will be reading the following...

A Look Back At 2010 (Part III: July to September)
For the previous entries on 2010: Part I, Part II. The summer really heated up in the Japanese pop culture world. Here’s what went down from July to September 2010! July 2010 CMX, the manga imprint for DC Comics, goes down for the count. Someone asked my take on it, so here it is. I first heard about CMX because of the Tenjho Tenge localization fiasco. The fact that they severely...

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of hosting “Holiday Anime & Manga Day” at Kinokuniya Bookstore. It was the first anime/manga event that I have truly hosted. I have taken part in panels for Samurai Beat Radio there, but not hosting an entire day’s worth. I have to say it was quite a learning experience and lots of fun with introducing the guests, announcements, entertainment,...
